LIFE HISTORIES OF NORTH AMERICAN BIRDS This is a series of 21 volumes published between 1919 and 1968 by Arthur Cleveland Bent and collaborators. Bent was an amateur ornithologist who was approached by the Smithsonian Institute to do a series of books containing his own observations, data from published papers and unpublished notes from volunteers. The series included such groups as Life Histories of North American Birds of Prey: Life Histories of North American Diving Ducks: Life Histories of North American Jays, Crows and Titmice: and Life Histories of North American Wood Warblers.
