Fred's General Mercantile

The "bird friendly" business in Beech Mountain. Fred has a large section of his downstairs store dedicated to feeders, feed, books etc. and a knowledgeable young lady behind the counter. See   www.fredsgeneral.com/

Grandfather Mountain

Grandfather Mountain is the tallest mountain in the Blue Ridge and the only private park in the world designated by the United Nations as an International Biosphere Reserve. Grandfather Mountain has been a wildlife sanctuary and nature preserve for over 100 years and offers frequent nature programs, including many related to birds and birding.  The entrance is on US 221 between Linville and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Watauga County      

Blue Ridge Birds & Gardens

Blue Ridge Birds and Gardens is located in Boone on the third floor of Shoppes at Farmers Hardware.  Their address is 661 W. King Street in downtown Boone across from the Post Office.  They sell a variety of bird feeders, bird food and other bird-related items. 

The Brown House

The Brown House is a retail business specializing in wild bird supplies with a large selection of bird feeders, birdhouses, brackets, and seed. Some of the brands they carry are Droll Yankees, Aspects, WoodLink, Erva, and Lyric. Located at 9649-2 Hwy 105 S in Foscoe they are open from 10:00 to 5:00 Monday thru Saturday and can be reached at 828-963-4503 or by email to gbbrown@mail.com.
